Where can I see a hand surgeon near Frisco?

In short

Frisco patients are seen at The Hand and Wrist Institute's Dallas office on Preston Road, which runs south from Frisco through Plano to the office door. Dr. John T. Knight is the practice's only surgeon, and he already operates at Legent Hospital in Plano. One number, (817) 382-6789, books either office.

Which office serves Frisco, and the drive

Today it is the Dallas office, and the useful thing about it is the road. Preston Road is one continuous north-south route: it runs through Frisco, down through Plano, and past the office in far north Dallas. A patient coming from the Stonebriar side of Frisco, or from The Star and the Warren Parkway corridor, can make the whole trip on it without touching a highway.

The Dallas North Tollway is the faster alternative for anyone starting on the west side of Frisco or coming down from the US-380 corridor, and it runs parallel to Preston for most of the distance.

The Plano office, and why it matters to Frisco specifically

Dr. Knight already performs surgery at Legent Hospital in Plano. That is verified across three independent sources and it has been true for as long as the practice has been in Texas. What is changing is where the consultation happens.

When the Plano office opens, a Frisco patient's consultation and their surgery are in the same city, one exit closer than the Dallas office, on the same corridor they already drive. That is the whole argument for this page, and it is the one thing on it that is true only for Collin County patients.

The Plano office opens on Tuesday 29 September at 4090 Mapleshade Ln Ste 100, and it is open on Tuesdays. Until it opens, this page names the Dallas office as the place Frisco patients are seen, and it says so plainly rather than implying an office that is not open yet.

What the visit involves

You are seen by Dr. Knight. The practice has one surgeon, and he is the person in the room at both offices.

X-rays are taken in both the Southlake and Dallas offices and reviewed with Dr. Knight in the same visit. The Plano office will have X-ray in house as well.

If the exam points to something an X-ray will not show, Dr. Knight will arrange the right test and tell you where it is done. Where the diagnosis is not clear from the exam, that includes nerve testing.

If an operation is the answer, surgery is performed at Legent Hospital in Plano, Texas.

Conditions treated for Frisco patients

The practice treats the hand, the wrist and the elbow, and nothing else.

Frisco is a youth-sports town on a scale few places match, and the injuries that follow, jammed and broken fingers, torn thumb ligaments and wrist injuries from a fall onto an outstretched hand, are hand and wrist problems rather than general orthopedic ones.
