Patient answers
What do patients ask us?
These are the questions people ask in the room, answered in the first paragraph so you do not have to read to the bottom. Each page carries Dr. Knight's own recorded words with the video and the timestamp, the outside sources behind the rest, and the date it was last updated. None of it replaces an examination. Call (817) 382-6789 to have your own hand looked at.
Carpal tunnel syndrome
The nerve at the wrist: what the surgery is, what recovery looks like, and when an operation is on the table.
Trigger finger and tendon problems
Catching fingers, thumb-side wrist pain and what a cortisone shot does and does not do.
Dupuytren's contracture
A thickening in the palm that draws a finger down, and the point at which it is treated.
Lumps and cysts
The lump on the back of the wrist: what it usually is, and what would make it something else.
Wrist injuries and fractures
Broken or sprained, why a normal x-ray does not settle it, and when a wrist needs surgery.
Arthritis and the thumb
Pain at the base of the thumb, and the order the treatments are worked through.
The elbow
Tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow and the ulnar nerve, which are three different problems.
Seeing a hand surgeon
What a hand surgeon treats, what the training is, and how to check it.
