North Texas Outdoor Pursuit Center

The North Texas Outdoor Pursuit Center is an outdoor and partially indoor facility in the old historic grain silos of Downtown Carrollton. Renovated in 1993 by the original owners, the silos now house one of the tallest climbs in the country. The massive 120-foot-tall walls have survived the test of time and provide customers with unparalleled satisfaction. The venue features a map room, lounge area, classroom, and a strength and conditioning section with equipment. With several options to enhance your experience, this location is suited for beginning and advanced climbers.

Consider taking a course from the “Outdoor Climbing School” when you visit. With a mission to make the outdoors accessible to all, the center teaches outdoor skills ranging from land navigation, map reading, fire starting, camp cooking, backpacking, hiking, and rock climbing. If you plan to move your skills from the indoors to locations where you’ll be out in the wilderness, visiting the center will prepare you. The facility offers classes that help prepare climbers for “big rock climbing,” where climbers spend days scaling big walls and sleeping on mountainsides.

The North Texas Outdoor Pursuit Center is a short 25-minute drive from Dallas in Carrollton. Prices vary depending on the number of people climbing or services you desire. Climbing equipment is available for an additional charge. The center is typically open weekdays from noon to 10 p.m.

Cowboys Fit

Cowboys Fit is a 60,000-square-foot facility that serves as one of the few luxury gyms in the state. Cowboys Fit provides the highest quality service from trained professionals in a state-of-the-art facility with the newest equipment. Numerous classes range from yoga and Pilates to cycling and power training to help you become the best climber possible. Some activities offered at Cowboys Fit are Cadence Ride, Total Body Blitz, and Time Out.

The gym offers additional services in the Recovery Center, such as cryotherapy. This revolutionary service exposes the body to extreme temperatures for brief intervals to ease aching muscles and help body tissue recover. To help muscles recoup, you can also take advantage of HydroMassage, where staff members use water pressure to apply massage techniques to the body to relieve muscle and soft tissue injuries. This service helps ease chronic back pain, arthritis, and sports injuries. Others prefer using the center’s NormaTec Recovery System. Compressed air delivered through attachments on the legs, arms, or hips massages muscles to increase circulation and aid recovery.
